Billboard House Brings Jill Scott, The Roots, and Nipsey Hussle Legacy Panel to NYC

Billboard has rolled out the programming for its upcoming R&B Hip-Hop Week in New York City, anchoring the slate with a day of industry conversations dubbed Billboard House on Sept. 9. According to the announcement, the schedule leans heavily on veteran insight and legacy maintenance. The Roots and Jill Scott are tapped for standalone deep-dive conversations, while Kehlani and rising rapper Monaleo join forces for a mental health discussion presented by Better Health. The most consequential dialogue on the docket, however, pairs Nipsey Hussle's brother Blacc Sam with Bino Rideaux. Following the release of the collaborative project *PROLIFIC*—which entered the Billboard 200 at No. 21—the two will address the ongoing estate management and cultural stewardship of Hussle's catalog since his 2019 death. Most industry panels skirt around the raw mechanics of posthumous business; hopefully this one actually digs into the ledger. Twenty-year-old singer-songwriter LAILA!, who recently linked with Teezo Touchdown on the Aug. 14 single "ANGEL," will handle live performance duties at the daytime event. The programming then moves across the river the following evening for the R&B Hip-Hop Live concert, sponsored by Amazon Music's Rotation.
