ElevenLabs Rolls Out Section-by-Section Song Editing Tool Composer

The AI music arms race is shifting from whole-cloth prompt generation to granular production controls. ElevenLabs announced Tuesday that it has launched Composer, a dedicated editing feature within its ElevenMusic platform that allows users to regenerate and tweak specific sections of a track while leaving the rest intact. According to an announcement covered by Music Business Worldwide, users can build tracks from text prompts, uploaded recordings, custom lyrics, or scratch. From there, creators can alter the tempo, key, instrumentation, and energy of individual verses or bridges, with Composer generating multiple takes to audition before locking in an arrangement. ElevenLabs noted in a company blog post that "when you regenerate one section, the rest of your track stays untouched." The launch immediately pits ElevenLabs against Suno and Google in the race to court actual producers rather than novelty prompt-typers. Suno shipped its Studio 2.0 update on August 13 with stem separation and MIDI integration, while Google added section-replacement tools to its Flow Music Spaces platform in late July. Most of these platforms still produce glossy, soulless filler at scale, but handing creators surgical control over song structure is the first step toward something approaching an actual instrument. ElevenLabs, valued at $11 billion following a Series D round announced in February, reported crossing $500 million in annual recurring revenue in May, though the company attributed that milestone primarily to enterprise voice agents. On the music side, it reported in March that nearly 14 million tracks had been generated since debut, backed by licensing pacts with Merlin, Kobalt, and Believe. Composer is available now on the ElevenMusic platform.
