Family Company Connect With BJ KEMP on New Single "Understand"

Los Angeles funk and soul outfit Family Company are keeping their heavy rotation moving with their brand-new single "Understand," tapping vocalist BJ KEMP for the feature. Arriving via Rising Tides ENT, the four-minute record follows a busy summer run that included their eight-track instrumental effort *in & out* back in July. The core unit of bassist Alex Kyhn, drummer Josh Teitelbaum, and keyboardist Jason Goldstein strips away the sprawling brass arrangements from their recent cuts to focus entirely on locked-in rhythm and vocal space. Teitelbaum's snare snaps right in the pocket while Kyhn’s rounded bassline carries the low end, giving KEMP plenty of room to let his soulful delivery breathe over Goldstein's Rhodes chords.
