Former UnitedMasters Legal Chief Sasha Safavi Launches Syndicate Law Firm

By Lora·September 17, 2026·1 min read

Sasha Safavi is stepping out on his own. After five years steering legal affairs and music licensing at UnitedMasters, the veteran attorney has departed to launch Syndicate, a dedicated entertainment law firm, according to Billboard. Safavi hits the ground running with considerable leverage. UnitedMasters will remain on his roster as a day-one client, alongside Audiomack, Rebellion Records, and sports media company Overtime. Safavi has spent the better part of the past decade managing the technical plumbing behind modern music distribution. Prior to his five-year tenure at UnitedMasters, he logged time at TuneCore brokering direct licensing deals with digital streaming platforms. At UnitedMasters, his purview spanned major brand partnerships and artist pacts connected to the NFL, NBA, TikTok, and the 2022 World Cup, alongside commercial campaigns for Meta, AT&T, and McDonald’s. Taking your former employer with you as a flagship client is a calculated flex. Independent distribution continues to bleed into institutional brand marketing and tech platforms, and very few attorneys actually grasp the mechanics of direct DSP licensing without overcomplicating the paperwork. Expect Syndicate to poach a sizable share of independent operators looking for major-label legal rigor without the bureaucracy.
