In Rotation: Natanya
When a North-West London teenager with Grade 6 classical piano training abandons sheet music because her ear is too fast for her eyes, you get a producer who builds worlds instead of just writing songs. Natanya has operated with that exact autonomy since she first cracked open Logic Pro at fourteen. She spent her weekends at the Julian Joseph Jazz Academy absorbing Teddy Pendergrass and Michael Jackson, and you can hear that deep rhythmic foundation anchoring her entirely self-produced catalog. Her 2025 two-part project Feline’s Return proved she could arrange complex vocal layers without losing the groove. But her newest video drop, “ATTITUDE ERA!”, is what has been looping in my headphones all week. A lot of young R&B acts right now hide behind muddy reverb. Natanya puts her vocal runs right up front. She stacks her own harmonies like a choir, letting chiming melodic accents bounce off heavy drum loops. On tracks like “SHOW ME RIGHT!” and “TICKET STOP,” the bass drives a fast, restless pattern under the verse while her voice floats over the top. She controls every piece of the board. She already put in the road work opening for FLO, Destin Conrad, and PinkPantheress, and weathered the loss of her grandmother right before hitting the stage. That resilience bleeds into the music. Now, the numbers are matching the talent. Her Spotify audience doubled in just a few weeks. “SHOW ME RIGHT!” is sitting high on Pigeons & Planes and YAMS playlists, while YouTube Music just threw “TICKET STOP” into the top five of their New R&B rotation. Even SZA and Tyler, The Creator have been handing out co-signs. The industry loves to strip young female producers of their creative control, but Natanya holds the reins tight. She is making some of the most imaginative f***ing soul music coming out of the UK right now.
