Jahson Paynter Unpacks Vulnerability on New Single "boys don't cry!"

Jahson Paynter keeps his fall momentum rolling with his new single "boys don't cry!", the latest preview of his upcoming project *hold me, don't hold back!*, slated for October 29. Coming right behind recent drops "hasty!" and "no self respect!", the Mississauga native's latest cut locks in as a focal point for his second EP of 2026. Running just under four minutes, the R&B track finds Paynter breaking down on a front porch and sorting through emotional unraveling in real time. "'boys don't cry!' is testing the limits of how much someone will be there for you," Paynter shared, noting that unlearning the impulse to hide pain is essential. "A lot of males I find are scared to be looked at as less than, but to me, accepting your emotions and being in acknowledgment of them is what truly makes a man, so if I gotta cry than ima shed a tear or two." Between a hometown Toronto gig and headline stops at New York's Night Club 101 and Los Angeles' The Echo, Paynter is putting his cards completely on the table. Man had to get that off his chest.
