John Legend Links With Pharrell For New Album 'Muse'

John Legend is switching gears. The EGOT winner has officially announced *Muse*, a brand-new studio LP produced entirely by Pharrell Williams, slated for an Oct. 23 drop via Republic Records. According to Billboard, the pair cut the record out in Paris last year at Pharrell’s studio inside the Louis Vuitton headquarters. The rollout starts right now with the lead single, "Daylight." Rather than leaning on familiar piano ballads, Legend chased what he describes as a "Black James Bond aesthetic, but with a modern backbeat at its foundation." In a press statement, Legend broke down the chemistry: "You can hear traces of me and traces of him, but it sounds like something new for the both of us. The combination of me and Pharrell, on paper, I think, is a good idea. And the execution is even better." Pharrell steering the boards for Legend is the kind of curveball that actually makes sense.
