Sen. Marsha Blackburn Roasted for AI Video Performing Kendrick Lamar’s ‘Not Like Us’

Campaign strategy in 2025 has fully collided with digital desperation. U.S. Sen. Marsha Blackburn learned that the hard way after posting an AI-generated clip of herself digitally grafted onto Kendrick Lamar, performing “Not Like Us” on the Super Bowl LIX stage. Blackburn captioned the post “Tomorrow. Ready to roll” on X to gin up momentum for her Tennessee gubernatorial run. The video featured the senator flanked by a bizarre political backing crew: WWE wrestler turned Knox County Mayor Glenn Jacobs (Kane), Rep. Tim Burchett, Sen. Bill Hagerty, and state Sen. Brent Taylor. The online response was immediate and merciless, with commenters panning the synthetic production as embarrassing and cheap. There is a deep irony in an ultraconservative Southern lawmaker adopting a record fundamentally about cultural extraction and bad faith actors. Hijacking a West Coast victory lap that recently crossed one billion streams on Spotify to score local political points is a desperate move that underestimates the audience. According to Billboard, reps for Kendrick Lamar have not yet commented on the unauthorized use of his performance and record. Whether Lamar’s legal team steps in or lets the public ridicule handle it, the clip proves political consultants still have zero grasp of cultural context.
