Stevie Wonder Surprise-Drops Four Unreleased 'Songs in the Key of Life' Tracks

Stevie Wonder pulled the ultimate vault drop on Monday, surprise-releasing *Songs in the Key of Life 50: The EP*. The four-track bundle features unreleased cuts tracked straight out of the legendary 1976 sessions for his diamond-certified masterpiece: "It’s Easier," "My Life Story of Love," "I Can See the Sun in Late December," and "I’m Into Livin'." According to Rolling Stone, Wonder had been sitting on the material for half a century and decided to share it as he gears up to take the classic album on tour this fall. Everything about the drop pays homage to the original tape run. Original mixing engineers John Fischbach and Gary O. Adante came back to finish the tracks, and the EP hit streaming at exactly 4:54 a.m. PDT—a tribute to bassist Nathan Watts calling out "Fo’FiftyFo’" when the final 1976 recording wrapped. Musically, it’s pure vintage Stevie, from the upbeat bounce on "It’s Easier" to the warm, slow-shuffling pocket of "I Can See the Sun in Late December."
