Summer Walker Sues LVRN for Fraud as Interscope Pursues $50M Claim

Summer Walker is moving to sever ties with Love Renaissance. As reported by Rolling Stone and detailed by Music Business Worldwide, the Atlanta singer filed a fraud lawsuit against LVRN in Fulton County on August 28, demanding a court declare her September 2017 agreement void and unenforceable. Walker claims the company breached its contract, concealed revenue, and siphoned money from her recording, touring, and merchandise budgets to cover its own operating expenses. The 10-page filing also alleges LVRN ran an unauthorized YouTube account under Walker’s name, purged the channel’s analytics before turning over access, and retained all earnings. Walker’s attorney, Keith Moten, stated that terminating the 2017 deal is her primary objective, alongside unspecified compensatory and punitive damages. The complaint surfaced days after Interscope Records sued Walker in Los Angeles County Superior Court for over $50 million. That dispute stems from Walker invoking California’s seven-year statute to exit her recording contract as of August 27, having delivered three of five required albums. Interscope retaliated under the law’s 1987 damages amendment, claiming lost profits on uncompleted releases. Moten confirmed Walker plans to countersue Interscope. LVRN built its brand as a boutique creative haven, but when an artist alleges hidden merch storefronts and wiped YouTube ledgers, that modern-collective myth evaporates. Walker generated massive capital for that imprint; she should not have to fight through two separate jurisdictions just to control her own ledger. Moten noted the legal grounds to void the deal are solid, leaving the financial tally for the court to resolve.
