Suno Launches V6 AI Models With Warner and BMG Revenue-Sharing Deals

By Lora·September 9, 2026·1 min read

Suno has officially launched its V6 model suite, marking the AI music generator's first formal commercial rollout built alongside rights holders. Speaking with Billboard’s Kristin Robinson on *On the Record*, Suno CEO and co-founder Mikey Shulman confirmed that V6 represents the company's first model tier made “in partnership with the industry.” The launch follows licensing and settlement agreements with Warner Music Group, BMG, and Believe. Crucially, V6 is the first release where Suno shares platform revenue directly with its music business partners. Shulman noted these agreements lay the groundwork for upcoming tools that will let fans remix, sample, and interact with catalog tracks from participating artists. The legal landscape remains split down the middle. While Warner exited litigation through its late 2025 settlement, giants like Universal Music Group and Sony Music, alongside international collection societies like SOCAN and Koda, are still actively suing Suno for copyright infringement. Watching one sector of the major label ecosystem collect licensing checks while the other fights in federal court is absurd, but predictable. The music industry rarely stops disruptive technology; it just stalls until the revenue split looks right. As for the software, Suno’s V6 generation introduces faster rendering and higher audio fidelity across three configurations: standard V6 for general use, V6 Wild for off-the-wall creative prompts, and V6 Mini, which serves as the only free model in the suite. Viewers can watch the full interview on Billboard now.
