T-Pain Sues Akon's Konvict Entertainment Again Over Nearly $500,000 in Unpaid Royalties

T-Pain is back in Fulton County Superior Court chasing down money from Konvict Entertainment. According to a report from Baller Alert, the artist legally known as Faheem Rashad Najm filed a new breach-of-contract lawsuit against the Akon-co-founded label, alleging he is still owed $489,047 in unpaid catalog royalties. The filing outlines an accounting runaround. Konvict allegedly collected $1,304,127 from a distributor in late March covering sales from the second half of 2025. Under his contract, T-Pain is entitled to 75 percent of net distributor royalties. Instead of cutting the full check, Konvict allegedly routed half of that March revenue to affiliate label BuVision, wired T-Pain $489,047 in June to cover its own portion, and told his management to chase BuVision for the rest. The timing makes the dispute worse. T-Pain spent seven years locked in mediation over a 2018 royalties lawsuit against Konvict before finally settling in 2025 for $114,000—an agreement meant to resolve all accounting through 2024. Passing the collection buck to an un-sued affiliate looks like bad-faith accounting, especially against the artist whose work built the label's entire financial foundation. Neither Konvict nor T-Pain's legal representatives have issued public comment on the pending Georgia filing.
