Young Thug Faces Renewed Legal Battle Over 2015 Lil Wayne Tour Bus Shooting

By Lora·August 19, 2026·1 min read

Young Thug’s legal battles are not confined to his recent high-profile state trial. According to a report by HotNewHipHop, the Atlanta rapper’s legal team was in Cobb County court this week fighting to dismiss a long-running civil lawsuit stemming from the 2015 shooting of Lil Wayne’s tour bus. The plaintiff, bus driver Alvin Lewis, claims severe emotional distress from the highway shooting. Lewis alleges that Young Thug and Cash Money Records executive Birdman orchestrated the attack, which was carried out by Peewee Roscoe. To build his conspiracy case, Lewis’s legal team points to recorded jail calls and a $25,000 payment Thug made toward Roscoe’s legal defense. Thug’s attorneys argue the $25,000 was simply financial aid for a childhood friend, not a bounty payment. Frankly, treating a standard legal fund contribution for a childhood friend as a smoking-gun conspiracy payoff feels like a desperate reach by a plaintiff looking for a deep-pocket payday. Roscoe already took a plea deal in the massive YSL RICO prosecution. Dragging this decade-old street dispute back into civil court serves nobody but the lawyers. Per Courthouse News Service, Cobb County Judge Eric Brewton is currently weighing whether Lewis has presented sufficient evidence to push this civil case to a jury trial. Court observers are waiting for Judge Brewton's written decision.
