In Rotation: Dee Gatti

By Ellis·October 4, 2026·1 min read

Producers down in the Metroplex have been brewing a heavier, more insulated strain of R&B lately, and Dee Gatti is currently sitting right at the center of that shift. Her late-2024 project, Look What You've Done, dropped via Thirteen02, and it has absolutely hijacked my rotation this week. Gatti works in that murky trap-soul pocket, but she strips away the performative gloss that usually comes with the territory. Listen to how she approaches a track like "Keep the Peace." Producers KND, Mike Baretz, and Arniticus lay down a dragging, bottom-heavy bassline, and Gatti just sinks into the groove. She stretches her phrasing, letting her vocals hang just behind the snare. It gives the whole record a sluggish, narcotic pull. The undeniable standout is "Maybe." Sonic Major and Vohn handle the boards here, keeping the percussion sparse while Gatti works through the immediate friction of a fractured dynamic. Her vocal tone carries a natural grit. It is a slight rasp that makes the exhaustion sound lived-in. Frankly, the bulk of the dark R&B dropping right now is just mood-board music, completely hollow underneath the moody lighting. Gatti actually bleeds on the microphone. She writes with the blunt, unfiltered energy of someone who just had a screaming match in the driveway and hasn't cooled off yet. She closes the project with "Paranoid," a track that leaves the narrative completely unresolved, which is exactly how real life works. The curators are finally catching the draft. "Tit 4 Tat" just slid into the top five on Spotify's YAMS playlist and secured a slot on Fresh Finds R&B. The data proves the timing is right, but algorithms can't measure the actual weight of a record. You have to sit with the full twenty minutes of Look What You've Done to catch the vision. It is pure, unadulterated late-night drive music. Hit play below.
